Class Registration-Family

Q:

Why can't I access the class registration page?

A:

You must first log into the website.

Q:

Why can't I register my child for a particular class?

A:

3 reasons:

1. The system will not allow you to register your child for 2 classes that are scheduled within the same time frame.

2. The class may already be full.

3. You are not logged into the website.

Q:

I have more than 1 child doing the same class. Do I have to register them individually?

A:

Yes! We need to account for each child that is registering for a class.

General

Q:

Why join HSCC?

A:

HSCC is a Christian-based Biblical worldview organization that supports the call to minister to homeschooling families and their communities. We offer academic and enrichment classes for grades K-12.   It was founded for Christian families, who believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as either male or female and these two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God.

Q:

What is a homeschool co-op?

A:

A homeschool co op is a meeting place/experience in which a homeschoolers gather regularly for academic enrichment courses.  These courses include, but are not limited to classes in a structured, traditional classroom setting, focus groups, field trips and social clubs.

Q:

What is the average class size?

A:

HSCC class sizes average between 6 and 12 participants; however, the choir and other group-structured courses tend to be larger, averaging 25 to 30 students.

Q:

How frequently are classes offered?

A:

Currently, HSCC offers classes at Temple Hills Baptist Church on Thursdays from 9am to 3pm during the months of September through April.  Classes are not held during the observances of Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Class attendance is not walk in and requires registration.

Q:

Are meals provided?

A:

Parents are responsible for providing breakfast, lunch and snacks for their children.  We allocate a 30-minute window for lunch; however, children are permitted to eat as necessary.

Q:

What happens if I decide to homeschool in the middle of the school year?  May I still be a part of HSCC?

A:

We understand that families relocate, experience challenges or need to make changes at paces specific to their situations.  To that end, HSCC has staff in place to conduct familial interviews and provide transitional support throughout the calendar year.

Q:

What are costs and when are fees due?

A:

Costs vary by class and are based on various components including materials, field trips and other factors that may affect expenses needed to teach each course.  Some classes are free while others are moderately priced, paid monthly.  Every family is required to pay and annual registration fee and an annual facility fee per family.

Q:

What is the inclement weather policy?

A:

While our families come from various parts of the Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, HSCC typically follows closures as announced by the Prince Georges County School system.  There are instances, in which the school system may may decide to close (or open) and HSCC, based on the facility, the road conditions in surrounding areas or other reasons, acts accordingly.  HSCC families will be provided ample notice about closings and make-up days, which are usually added to the end of the school year.

Q:

Is there a dress code?

A:

HSCC requires students to attend classes dressed appropriately for the weather, wearing nothing that is not distracting nor provocative.  Nothing worn should be displeasing to Our Father.  Clothes should not be revealing and should always be modest.

Q:

Do I remain on campus with my child(ren) or am I allowed to drop them off?

A:

It is always recommended that you remain on campus with your child(ren).  HSCC’s Administrative Team ensures that the learning environment is conducive for students and their families, but in doing so, cannot always police the comings and goings of individual students.  Depending on the child’s age, we understand that the child may be dropped off, may walk to and from co op, or even drive to his/her courses.  As most of our instructors are homeschooling parents, they typically remain on campus with their children for the duration of the day.  Parents of young children are required to remain on campus and are often with their children during classes.  Wellness classes, prayer groups and the like are held specifically for parents throughout the day.

Account Access

Q:

Why is my account "parked"?

A:

Accounts may be parked for these reasons:

  1. Unpaid registration fees
  2. Previous outstanding balance
